Abstract
Riffat Hassan is a renowned Pakistani-American Islamic philosopher, theologian, and scholar who have written extensively on feminism and Islamic thought. She is among the Muslim thinkers who have presented a renewed and critical study of the Quran and Islamic teachings in the context of Islamic feminism. Riffat Hassan has presented new interpretations and interpretations of the verses of the Quran. Especially those verses that are related to the relationship, equality and social role of men and women emphasize that "the Quran considers men and women to be equal human beings. Some jurisprudential interpretations have shown women to be inferior, which is a deviation from the original message of the Quran." They challenged the notion that Hazrat Adam was the first human being and that woman was created from him. Dr. Riffat Hassan denies that woman was created from man's rib. Riffat Hassan highlighted the economic, social and marital rights of women in Islamic teachings, such as "the right to education, the right to consent in marriage and divorce, economic autonomy, and the right to inheritance." She is among the Muslim women who presented "Islamic feminism" as a school of thought that is different from Western feminism but strives for gender justice in the light of the Quran. Riffat Hassan has also highlighted how male interpretations of Islamic tradition limited the rights and status of women, and challenged their interpretations and provided new intellectual foundations. The application of this research method is designed to provide an in-depth and critical analysis of the application of Riffat Hassan's interpretation methodology related to gender issues in the Qur'an. With this approach, the research is expected to make a significant contribution to the understanding and development of gender studies in Islam.
