Abstract

The relationship of poetry to the Qur’an in general, and understanding the Qur’an and the Sunnah, their status, and being guided by them are of great importance to the Islamic poet Muhammad Iqbal. Therefore, this article talks about the relationship of the Sufi poetry of Muhammad Iqbal to the Holy Qur’an. In fact, in his Sufi tendency, Muhammad Iqbal took the Qur’an as a strong foundation and primary source and presented pure enlightened of Islamic Sufi literature that illuminates dark hearts and guides confused minds. For this reason, Iqbal believes in the sincere Muslim faith that the spiritual aspect of the Holy Qur’an must be broadcast and spread among the members of the Islamic nation in general and in the souls of young Muslims in particular, because the spiritual aspect of the Islamic nation is weak and lacks progress, sophistication, elevation and prosperity. Therefore, he loved to write his Sufi poetry and support it with the Holy Qur’an. His Sufi poetry appears to be an interpretation of Islamic Sufism in the Qur’an in Persian and Urdu. We cite some examples from his poetry as evidence of this. We chose these examples from his various collections, including “Asrar-e Khudi”, meaning; “The secrets of the individual soul”, and “Symbols of Bay Khudi”, meaning; “The secrets of the social soul. With “Piam-e Mashreq”, meaning; “The message of the East”. We begin from his first collection of poems, Asrār-e Khudi, meaning; “The secrets of the individual soul”
