Abstract

Hazrat Mujaddid Alif Sani, a prominent figure in Islamic history, left an indelible mark on the intellectual landscape of the Indian subcontinent during the Mughal era. His profound ideas and reformist zeal deeply influenced Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the renowned philosopher-poet of the 20th century. This abstract explores the transformative effects of Mujaddid's thought on Iqbal's intellectual development.

Mujaddid's emphasis on spiritual revival, critical engagement with traditional Islamic thought, and advocacy for social justice resonated deeply with Iqbal's quest for a revitalized Muslim identity and societal reform. Mujaddid's concept of tajdid (renewal) and his call for ijtihad (independent legal reasoning) served as foundational principles for Iqbal's vision of dynamic Islamic thought and jurisprudence.

Iqbal, inspired by Mujaddid's teachings, incorporated elements of spiritual awakening and social activism into his poetry and philosophical works. Mujaddid's emphasis on selfhood and individual responsibility found resonance in Iqbal's notion of khudi (selfhood) and his call for Muslims to reclaim agency and self-determination.
