The contemporary world is witnessing a profound transformation in the structure of the educational process due to the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies, which have become an essential component of learning and teaching systems and of improving the quality of educational performance. This study aims to examine the significance of using artificial intelligence in learning and education by analyzing its theoretical foundations, tracing its practical applications, and exploring its impact on the development of learners, teachers, and educational institutions.
The research addresses the conceptual framework of artificial intelligence, its historical development, and its relationship to modern educational theories. It also highlights its major benefits, including personalized learning, improved teaching quality, support for smart assessment, and the provision of interactive learning environments. Additionally, it discusses AI’s role in automating administrative tasks, expanding access to education, and empowering learners with special needs.
The study further examines the challenges associated with privacy, digital equity, and teacher professional training, along with ethical considerations related to algorithmic bias. It also explores recent applications such as intelligent tutoring systems, educational robots, digital content creation, and the influence of artificial intelligence on curriculum development, scientific research, and the management of smart universities.
The research concludes that artificial intelligence represents a strategic opportunity to create a qualitative shift in education, provided that it is employed through a systematic vision that ensures digital security, respects the human dimension, supports equal opportunities, and prepares both teachers and learners to engage with smart and flexible educational environments that meet the demands of the future.
